The combined courses have been designed to offer a significant reduction in the workload required of students if they were doing two awards separately. This is in keeping with the common areas of Enquiry shared by the two awards, while still acknowledging the culture of each institution. At ACSA, students complete ACSA's degree or with the exception that the Level 2 majors have been dropped. Students may negotiate with the double degree coordinator in Level 2 to undertake a double elective which would, in effect, create the equivalent of a major. Students in the double degree program who complete the ACSA Bachelor of Visual Art must pass at least 66 units in the BA.

The entry requirements for double degree is Year 12 graduates apply, through the SATAC Guide, for the Bachelor of Arts (BA) at Flinders University. Admission to the ACSA degree program is via the Certificate Level 4 which is a prerequisite for students taking the double degree. After admission into the BA and ACSA, they become cross-institutional students with full-time status at each institution, providing they are enrolled in an equivalent full-time load.

International students are welcome to make initial contact by telephone, letter or email to discuss course options, recognition of prior learning and other matters. A full International Student Information Package can be forwarded to the prospective student however all information is currently published in this section of the website for easy access. Applications can also be processed through an agent offshore or on shore. Any payment made to an agent is not refundable or deductible from fees paid to Adelaide Central School of Art. Applications for the award of Bachelor of Visual Art, Graduate Diploma in Visual Art or Master of Visual Art must be substantiated with academic results and/or a portfolio or an authenticated photographic display. Once applications have been processed a Conditional Letter of Offer will be issued with an invoice for payment of the full fee for a full year of study and payment for medical insurance. Monies thus accepted by Adelaide Central School of Art will be held in a Trust and will be subject to scrutiny. All offers are conditional on achievement of the minimum English language standard, on the minimum academic achievement and on the submitted portfolio of works.
