This course entails clinical training and the development of research skills in a specialist discipline which is a requirement to qualify for registration as a specialist in Australia and New Zealand. It aims to provide an avenue for qualified dentists to develop advanced clinical and research skills in a dental specialty in a format appropriate for the profession. The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry is a three-year full-time coursework degree combining advanced clinical training and research. This doctoral degree allows students to specialise in a chosen discipline which may lead to specialist registration with the Dental Board of Queensland. Specialty discipline study: Periodontology.

International students must hold a Bachelors degree in Dentistry or equivalent (from a five year program), have a minimum of two years of postgraduate clinical experience, demonstrate written and spoken proficiency in the English language, have an Honours degree, or a graduate level diploma, or have successfully completed the Primary Examinations of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons or equivalent. They should satisfy a minimum English language requirements, a minimum score of 550 on TOEFL or a computerised TOEFL score of 213 or an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no score less than 19) or a minimum overall band score of 6.0 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 5.5 or no score less than three in each skill of the ISLPR and English test results must be no more than two years old. They must have completed Year 12 of secondary school or equivalent academic achievement. They must have prerequisites of English (4SA).
